Marcin is a photographer, mountain rescuer and guide based in Poland. He started his professional life as a geologist, but soon the passion for photography took over. Marcin photographs regularly for National Geographic. Bears and sea lions in Kamchatka, Russia and walruses and polar bears in Svalbard are some of his most recent projects. Marcin has received several awards including European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Slena Photo Award, Asferico and Grand Press Foto.

Q&A

  1. How did you start with photo/video?
    I traveled a lot during my studies and always had my camera with me. I quickly understood that I was more interested in photography than geology, so I became a photographer describing distant places visited as a geologist in travel magazines. Now after many years I have contract with National Geographic and I’m represented by National Geographic Image Collection.
  1. How would you describe your style?
    Travel photography, wildlife, wilderness landscapes and underwater photography.
  1. What inspires you?
    Great photographers.
  1. What is your dream shoot or project?
    My main goals for the coming years are underwater pictures of humpback whales, wide-angle shots of African mammals and Antarctica.
  1. What is your best advice to others that want to develop as photographers?
    Learn and keep shooting.

  1. What is the most important in your bag?
    I rarely have something not important in my bag :) 
  2. What bag do you use?
