- Backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 3, 4, and 5 devices and standard USB-C peripherals at up to 10Gb/s. The RTS5490 USB4 hub controller provides up to 20Gb/s to each downstream USB4 port, offering up to 40Gb/s of total bandwidth across both ports. A single USB4 storage device connected to either port will experience reduced transfer speeds compared with a direct host connection. For maximum USB4 storage performance from a single device, a direct host connection is recommended.
